Manicure Technician Training Programs
Advance Beauty College – Garden Grove offers two manicure technician training programs for students to choose from. The “Manicuring” program is a 400 hour basic program and “Advanced Manicuring” is 600 hours in length. The State of California requires students to complete a minimum of 400 hours of instruction in order to sit for the state board exam. The 400 hour Manicuring course focuses on nail technician fundamentals that prepare the students to pass the state board exam. The 600 hour Advanced Manicuring course builds on the core subjects taught in the 400 hour program, but adds in skills that are important for new graduates to be salon ready.
Manicuring vs. Advanced Manicuring Programs
Many prospective students ask what the major differences between the two programs are. The students in the two courses attend theory class together in the morning and then separate out into the two different classes for practical training. Students in the “Manicuring” class will focus on skills that prepare them to pass the state board exam. Students in the “Advanced Manicuring” class will work on state board skills in addition to advanced techniques, such as gel color, nail art, and traditional acrylic. Our Advanced Manicuring students also receive a deluxe kit that includes their own UV lamp and rolling case. This kit from CND has a retail value of over $1000.
Students in both programs will learn from CND trained instructors. This means that our instructors have been specially trained to work with and teach using CND products. This allows the students across all of our manicuring programs to receive a consistent education. We also take pride in finding instructors that have real world experience and that are knowledgeable in the latest salon techniques. The nail industry is the fastest growing sector in the beauty and wellness industries with new and evolving techniques and equipment. We encourage our students to use their creativity while they are mastering their techniques.
Careers in Manicuring Technology
What type of career can you expect with a manicuring license? Many of our former students are working in nail salons, spas, cruise ships, hair salons, as well as opening their own businesses. One of our most recent graduates, Holly Kalil, opened her own boutique nail salon called FlyGirls Nail Art. This aviation themed nail salon, offers a wide variety of manicures, pedicures and nail enhancements. Holly was also featured in Nails Magazine as a winner of the Beauty Changes Lives/Tippi Hedren Nail Scholarship. Read about her here.
